Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,
Today I will be reviewing the Shudder Original movie, “Host”. I had been hearing great things about this film so I decided to give in and watch it. For those of us who are horror fans we know there hasn’t been too many dope horror films this year. Especially with theaters being closed due to the pandemic that caused very highly anticipated horror films to be postponed or delayed in release. So anytime I hear great praise about a horror film I am willing to give it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I didn’t have high expectations since Shudder movies for me are hit or miss. This one is a hidden gem, not much of a fan for found footage/camera horror, but this was well done!
The premise of this film as mentioned above is 6 friends get on a Zoom call, to entertain themselves during this quarantine they do a seance and end up waking up something evil. As soon as the seance is completed all of the people on the zoom call start to experience supernatural and creepy shit! I love that this film was done post Rona and we get a glimpse of our new reality. For example the scene when Jemma runs out to help Haley who has disappeared from the zoom call and she has to put on her mask, I thought that was brilliant! Really enjoyed this film it definitely creeped me out. I had to watch a non-horror film afterwards to erase the creepy images so I wouldn’t have nightmares lol. Go check out this movie you won’t be disappointed, the hype is real!
